Review-

Treacherous Desires is a well written, quick, light and equally engaging novel by Kritika Sharma.
Book Cover and Title– Book Cover is mysteriously seducing and catches the attention of readers. It goes well with the plot and theme. Title is totally appreciate and adds mystery to it and catches the attention of readers.
Language and Writing Style- Language of the author is lucid. Writing style of author is fresh and binds readers with the book. Narration is decent and compliments the storyline.
Characterization– I loved characterization of the book. Kritika has managed to put the real emotions of protagonist in story. The dilemma and the guilt of consequences is brilliantly written.
Even the side characters are well portrayed.
Storyline and Plot– Storyline of the book is fresh and provides us unique yet realistic plot.
From the first page only story starts taking pace and scenes are given one after other. However the pace of the story was fast and slow in between few pages, apart from that, it was interesting read.

This book is not for those who believe in happily ever after tales. It’s brilliantly creepy, violent and extremely offensive in nature. It preaches a cult philosophy against an emasculating consumerist culture.
The story is a brilliant mix of transgressed elements held together by dirty realism. It focuses on characters who feel confined by the norms and expectations of society and who break free of those confines in unusual or illicit ways. Because they are rebelling against the basic norms of society, protagonists may seem mentally ill, anti-social, or nihilistic. The book deals extensively with taboo subject matters such as drugs, sexual activity, violence, pedophilia and crime.

Review

Before starting my review, I want to congratulate Mr. Nishit for choosing and writing this genre in the time when Indian Authors are going after Romance Genre only.
To start my review, This book is quite an gore and talks about “realistic” and “dark” things about our society which exists and still are called as “Taboo”.
Author serves us story of Nik and  Aditya, how they met, their parallel stories interconnected with Violence and Gore content. It was interesting to read about all this stuff but over the time it felt like author is off the track from the main plot.
Plot is interesting and new one. Storyline goes well with the picture perfect characterization of Modern Youth.
I also liked the way author was putting his thoughts through the characters.
Language of the book is repetitive and however it goes well with the theme, a little more of vocabulary would have satisfied my literary thirst.
Narration is decent and complements the storyline.
Book Cover is beautiful with the broken radio and some blood. It gives us hint about the possible content in the book. Title is interesting and catchy. Blurb is straightforward and that’s why it catches attention of readers.
Overall, Broken Radio is one the unique book written by an Indian Author and though, story seemed little blurred, it was still an enjoyable read.
I would rate this book 4/5 stars and recommend this book to the fans of gore.
